Our History and Heritage
Founded on the principles of charity, unity, and fraternity, the Knights of Columbus was established in 1882 by Father Michael J. McGivney, assistant pastor of St. Mary’s Church in New Haven, Connecticut, and a group of parishioners. Their intent was to bring financial aid and assistance to the sick, disabled and needy members and their families. Today, Father McGivney is being considered for sainthood. The Knights of Columbus are global group of Catholic gentlemen empowered to live our faith at home, in their parish, at work and in their community. We are a fraternal benefits society, which means we can provide financial security to members and their families, while turning premiums into charitable impact. Knights of Columbus Charitable Fund is the safe, secure, and confidential platform to maximize your philanthropic impact on organizations that align with your Catholic values.
Local Knights of Columbus councils lead your family and community in faith and service through faith, family, community, and life programs. With your support, Knights of Columbus is able to impact the lives of countless individuals in need, around the nation and around the world. Whether providing aid to those affected by disasters, supporting persecuted Christians, assisting mothers and babies in need or more, your contributions make a profound difference. 100% of your donation goes directly to those we serve through our charitable programs. We welcome Catholic gentlemen to join us at www.kofc.org
